Singing a Sweet Tune in Seattle

Singing a Sweet Tune in Seattle

From the classical to indie rock, Seattle is the place to be this week for all the most melodious sounds.

Start off your week with an Epic event. This week, visiting the Seattle area for the first time in 40 years, smack downtown, the Dueling Piano and Sports Bar is hosting the infamous band sporting the tagline “Oldies but Goodies Rock!” – it is the Gems!. They are only playing one gig though on Sunday October 9th, so you might be stuck begging for tickets outside, hoping to hear a sweet note float out the door but it will be worth it.

If you are looking to expand your musical breadth from the NPR theme song or whatever happens to be playing on the local pop station consider checking out the Cello Divas playing at the Mt. Baker Community Club on October 9th. Eight cellos will blow your mind – shows at 2:00 and 4:00 pm.

Are you of those people who quickly turn off their iPod when it is on shuffle and guests come around just in case your guilty pleasure song flips on? Then go meet some like-minded folk at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater on Saturday October 15th (two shows at 8:00 and 10:00 p.m.) while some of Seattle’s faves sing their guilty pleasure songs while Michael Nutting accompanies on piano.

Also, mark your calendar and support some traveling Kiwis, the band the Naked and Famous, to be exact, will be at the Showbox on Wednesday Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. You probably won’t acquire their super cool accent, but you might find yourself with a new favorite band. All I can say is - if you are in Seattle this week, you ears are in for a treat.
