Its about a mile away from the stone cottage that he uses as a writing retreat, and the daily walk in good weather and bad is a time for thinking, for watching the sky and the birds and the deer, and for writing songs. The trees along the gravel road were planted years ago, and local legend says the cottage was built by hand in either 1916, or maybe 1940 nobody seems very sure by the folk who settled that stretch of country. The walls are two feet thick, and theres a new steel roof.

Regarded as one of the best bands on the Rockabilly circuit; these three Kentucky Kats have a fever for the bone breaking billy that's sure to set your feet a-tappin and your tongues a-waggin ! Taking their cues from the pioneers of those rock boppin' beats, they have an uncanny ability to play and perform the sounds of yesterday with their own style.

The main purpose for starting the band was to create an authentic tribute to the Man in Black, Johnny Cash. After acquiring stand-up bass player, Sean Glithero, the band began learning every Cash song possible. By January 2005, the Cash'd Out was ready to play live. Once people heard the authentic sounds of the band, the word started to spread around the Southwest and Cash'd Out's popularity has been growing ever since.

At the age of 19, Anna Coogan found herself in Salzburg, Austria, studying opera in a language she did not yet know. She explains: “I’m not exactly sure how I got there- a series of good auditions and better luck. I did not speak a word of German when I first got there-- it was a crash course.”

Somewhat bewildered by the pressures of being in the prestigious world of opera, Anna shocked the old guard at the Mozarteum by singing American show tunes for recitals, and missing class to go skiing in the Austrian Alps. “I love opera, but I never could relate to the music. It did not feel like mine. I’d show up burnt from the mountains, unable to sing very well, and be in a load of trouble with my teachers.”

My name is Rachel Mae If someone were to ask me to stop makin' music, they might as well just ask me to stop breathing as well. I am my music; I can't separate from it anymore than I can separate myself from the air I breathe! My heart belongs to music. I sing and write my own country music and I have been learning to play the guitar. It has enriched my life immensely. As the daughter of an amazing blues guitarist/singer songwriter (my Dad, David Brewer) I grew up surrounded by music. I grew up watching my Dad Rock the stage. I always wanted to follow in his shoes! I've been singing since I was a kid. I sang for any willing audience until they would politely find a way to get me to stop!

The Lonely HThe Lonely HThe Lonely H - With worn out boots and starry eyes, The Lonely H return from the road bearing one thing: Concrete Class. After 200 plus shows in 2008, these knights-in-shining-denim have seen their share of hard-wood floors, hopeless drunks, and enough roadkill to feed Detroit.Following up Kick Upstairs (2006) and Hair (2007) both on The Control Group, Concrete Class, The H’s third full length, reels with the rawness of Bob Seger’s blue collar howl, and rolls with the purity of a “Tequila Sunrise.” But it doesn’t end there -- these 12 tracks, recorded and mixed on miles of analog tape, sweat with the heart and honesty to match. Bearing melodies that pump at the passing of every mile marker, the music radiates a steadfast dedication to not only rock and roll music, but to rock and roll as a way of life.

Multi-award-winning, multi-platinum, and as her new CD Sweet Danger so expertly proves, she’s multi-faceted. She co-produced the album with famed jazz/pop keyboardist and producer Jason Miles, who’s worked with Miles Davis, Luther Vandross and Sting. The two brought together Nashville and New York musicians, culling the best of both worlds to create an instantly engaging, groove-oriented record infused with jazz rhythms and Bogguss’ signature vocals. This highly anticipated album will be released September 4th on Loyal Dutchess Records. She says recording the album was one of the most challenging and freeing experiences of her career. “I love the sweetness of making a snap decision and the danger of living with the consequences.

Micky & The MotorcarsMicky & The MotorcarsMicky & The Motorcars - Unlike the previous three albums by country band Micky and the Motorcars, the group — this go-around — had plenty of time to prepare for NAIVE. During recording sessions on the past discs, says front man-lead vocalist Micky Braun, “if a good gig came up, we had to leave the studio.” Now established as one of the best-drawing bands on the lucrative Texas Music circuit, Micky and the Motorcars had plenty of time to make NAIVE (Smith Entertainment; street date: July 29, 2008), accumulating a large stockpile of songs before members even entered Austin’s Cedar Creek Studios. “We had a good amount of time off, so we did a lot of rehearsal, working up different arrangements and trying to figure out the right way to play them,” says Braun.

Chris MarshallChris MarshallChris Marshall - Growing up in Portland, Ore., Chris Marshall followed a fairly typical adolescent path. He found his mom’s acoustic guitar, taught himself to play, then worked his way into what he calls “many short-lived punk, hardcore and emo bands.” He also honed his skills by playing in the church his dad founded when he was 14. Then Marshall discovered the gospel of Willie and Johnny—as in Nelson and Cash—and the spirit of Elvis, as well as the poetic and literary influences that infuse the thoughtful songwriting found on his new EP, “Starting Out.” The five-song collection is an exploration of life experiences: physical and metaphysical journeys, passion, pain, friendship, faith. It’s the work of a man who found his songwriting voice when he unlatched his cerebral cortex from the process and engaged his heart instead.

Or, the WhaleOr, the WhaleOr, the Whale - Voices everywhere, caught again in the devil’s snare,” belts lead vocalist and guitarist Alex Robins of San Francisco-based Or, the Whale on the second song of the band’s newest album. The song, “Datura,” is a rollicking ode to the hallucinogenic properties of jimson weed, but could just as easily be a description of the band itself. The soaring vocal harmonies and Neil Young-inspired guitar riffs found on Or, the Whale’s self-titled sophomore album yield a fiendishly potent listening experience, which may even provoke your own hallucinations.

John Doe & the SadiesJohn Doe & the SadiesJohn Doe & the Sadies - By including varying yet equally beloved movements within the country music pantheon, Doe and The Sadies were able to cover their heroes while filtering the pop sensibilities of '60s Nashville through the electric honky tonk of Bakersfield, CA.

The FoghornsThe FoghornsThe Foghorns - Started when Bart Cameron went home to Wisconsin after a rough series of events from 2001-2002 in Brooklyn, The Foghorns began as a rock/ bluegrass amalgam. Cameron recorded with Wisconsin musicians Kevin and Steve Firchow, then performed in Brooklyn with help from New York musicians, including The Cobble Hillbillies. Bart Cameron left the US for Iceland on a Fulbright, and a year later The Foghorns began touring Iceland with just guitar and a large bucket. That bucket player, Paul Nikolov, eventually joined the Icelandic Parliament. Cameron recruited an Icelandic lineup, The Foghorns released CDs with buckets and with other instruments, and they have been featured at the Iceland Airwaves music festival, in addition to playing Icelandic festivals including Innipukinn.

WesterlyWesterlyWesterly - The American West often conjures up visions of vast landscapes inhabited by cowboys, a land of sparely-populated mining towns and an open, rugged landscape pressed against the icy waters of the Pacific Ocean, scorched by the sun and soaked by the rain. Westerly is a band whose sound is shaped out of that landscape and a history of life in the west. Primary singer and songwriter Joshua Schramm has lived all over the west coast, from Alaska to Southern California. His songs often reflect the tension between a need to keep moving while still longing to put down roots. The band came together in Seattle with bass player Bob Hyde and drummer Andrew Squire arriving from Albuquerque, and singer and guitar player Kory Nagler coming over the water from the Olympic Peninsula.

The Handsome Family: by Mark OwenThe Handsome Family: by Mark OwenThe Handsome Family - Taking place under bowed branches and deep within winding corn mazes, The Handsome Family releases "Honey Moon" through Carrot Top Records on April 14, 2009. Their eighth studio release, it celebrates the duo's twentieth year of marriage with a series of love songs that sharply contrast the dark themes of their previous seven releases.
