Want to get into the holiday spirit and listen to some live festive music that’s not blaring from the department store speakers overhead? There are quite a few holiday concerts playing around Seattle this year and I recommend seeing at least one before the season is over.
Suites and Sonatas by Bach and Handel
This performance will be presented by Concert Spirituel and features Hans-Jurgen Schnoor playing harpsichord and Jeffrey Cohan playing the baroque flute. The program includes sonatas by Back in E and A Major and his French Suite for harpsichord and Handel’s sonata in E minor.
Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dec 15th 7:30 PM
Christmas with Choral Arts
If you’re looking for something unique and a bit different than traditional concerts, see the small 28 member choir Choral Arts. A popular christmas time performance in Seattle. The group will be performing, with pianist Libby Watrous, an improvised program that includes carols, choral favorites, and a number of new songs.
St. Joseph’s Parish. Dec 16th, 7:30 PM
Celtic Christmas
This yearly event is highly rated by Seattle audiences. Celtic Christmas performs traditional choral music in Welsh, Gaelic and English. There is a candlelight processional as well.
Bastyr University Chapel. Saturday Dec 17th 3PM
Joyful! Noise Christmas Concert
This new group is in it’s second season and is welcomed back after its previous successful year. They’ll be performing again this year their contemporary set of well known Christmas carols and invite the audience to sing along.
Seattle First Baptist Church. Dec 19th 8PM
In Dulci Jubilo: A Renaissance Christmas
For their second performance of the year, Tudor’s Choir will be performing Renaissance carols and various motets from across Europe.
