I’m a little upset that I won’t be able to ring in the New Year in Seattle this year. For the past 5 years I’ve stood with other Seattleites and watched fireworks or toasted champagne with good friends in Gas Works Park, Capital Hill, and Queen Anne... you name it. So you can imagine my disappointment after reading about the various activities and concerts hosting New Years Eve parties. If you’re lucky enough to be in Seattle this year and want a few ideas of where to go, look over this list.
Resolution 2012
This year’s Resolution 2012 features NERO and Alana Watson, the electronic duo from London and will have a killer line-up of Dubstep, drum and bass as well as house music playing on two massive stages. . Something for everyone...well almost everyone. I’m a secret fan of electronica so to be this night sounds like a blast. But be prepared. Plan on being up all night with constant bass pulsing into the wee hours of the morning.
WaMu Theater: 8PM $50-63
Brandi Carlile/Ivan and Alyosha
Massive theaters packed with neon wearing youth jumping like mad men to bass not your style? Go for something a little more calm yet just as exhilarating. Seattle’s own Brandi Carlile will be playing her folksy set at the Neptune Theatre. Another great folk group, Ivan and Alyosha will be opening for her.
Neptune Theatre: 8PM $125
Sabbath with an added twist
So electronica at WaMu is over-stimulation station and Brandi’s concert tickets will ensure you begin your new year broke. Instead, why not put your love of bargaining to good use and enjoy the night out with some friends watching Saxophonist Skerik and his nutty friends play wacky and improved renditions of Black Sabbath in Georgetown.
Themixseattle.com: 9PM $20-25
