Tonight the Wu-Tang Clan, Fatal Lucciauno, Scribe, and Graves will be playing at the Showbox Sodo near Safeco Field at 7pm. All ages are welcome to attend the show, with tickets priced at $35 $40, this will be an amazing hip-hop opportunity.

First becoming popular in 1993, the Wu-Tang Clan is New York City-based multi-platinum hip-hop musical group consisting of nine American rappers. The members of this group have been highly successful, and span many fields of success, from becoming multi-platinum solo artists, multi-platinum record producers to winning Grammys. Some are also TV and film stars, screenwriters, product spokespersons, business owners, and motion picture composers.

Fatal Lucciauno was born in Chicago, but moved to Seattle when he was six. Having spent 11 years homeless with his family, he grew accustomed to a hardened life on the streets and with drugs. He found his musical inspiration from his mother, Northwest Jazz and Gospel singer Josephine Howell. Says DeVon Manier, CEO of Sportn’ Life Records, “This dude is street. He’s raw, real, uncut, he’s gutter. Plus, he’s smart. He could be a teacher or a philosopher. But he’s a rapper…he’s the intelligent hoodlum.” Fatal Lucciauno signed with Sportn’ Life Records, and is viewed as the present-day Tupac.

Scribe is an New Zealand-born rapper who released his first album in 2003. He is widely known in New Zealand with his recent singles, “Baby Girl, Fast Far (Fugee Remix) featuring Wyclef Jean and Lupe Fiasco.

Graves is a Seattle native, whose inspiration comes from “diverese artists, things, accourances, movements, friendships and lately I mold my works from various angles and genres of music,” as he writes on his MySpace page.

Kiss 106.1 is hosting the 2008 Jingle Bell Bash,  as they do annually. But this year, they’re featuring Fall Out Boy! So we know it will be good. Other performances by Boys Like Girls and The Academy Is will be sure to rock the house.

The concert will take place on December 4th at the Historic Paramount Theater, starting at 7:30. According to Kiss’s website, the tickets are sold out, however, you can still buy them online at ticketmaster.com. You can also win tickets all day on Wednesdays by listening to Kiss 106.1. If you’re caller 106 when you hear any Fall Out Boy song, you can score free tickets!

Last year’s Jingle Bell Bash was a huge success, with performances from The Jonas Brothers, Timbaland, Blake Lewis, Sean Kingston, Colbie Caillat, and Ehpikh. So we know this year will be even better! There may be less bands than last year, but at least each band plays more songs!

I don’t know about anyone else but this year’s Bumbershoot Festival kind of sucked. I’m not saying the line-up of acts wasn’t any good, I was very excited about seeing Lucinda Williams and Beck. They both rocked. And the Stone Temple Pilots gave a very good performance, although they didn’t play any new material and that was a bit disappointing.

I would have to say that the reason Bumbershoot sucked in my humble opinion is that it no longer feels like the hippie festival it once was. I used to look forward to Labor Day weekend for what seemed like Seattle’s own version of Woodstock.

But alas, even Woodstock went corporate.

That is why I will never return to Bumbershoot. The hippies are gone. The drum circles are gone. The tie-dyed shirts, the beaded necklaces, the hair. Gone.

And now, I too will no longer be participating in what was once a very, very cheap way to watch live music. What was once a festival for all, is now over-priced, over-hyped, and over-crowded with bland suburbanites and Eastside hipsters. Too bad.

Can you believe Glenn Danzig is still touring? It’s been many years since I saw Danzig, if I recall correctly it was at the EMP. I can’t imagine how he’s holding up these days, this guy has been around forever. I remember thinking he was too old then. Has anyone seen him play lately? He was still rocking hard back then, I’m going to try to catch them when they come to the Showbox SoDo on November 8.
